Regular seminar

NewNet@Paris organizes weekly seminars in order to boost synergies between researchers of the chaire.  The seminar will take place:

  • every Wednesday morning, from 10am to 12am  in Telecom ParisTech premises (23 av Italie, Room I304).
  • note that weekly  LINCS seminars are held on the same premises in the afternoon

The goal is to discuss on-going research and potential research collaborations
and opportunities. The seminar will consist of technical presentations and will be followed by information about the chair (News, Q&A).  The seminar is aimed to be:

  • open, to anyone interested from Cisco or Telecom ParisTech
  • informal, ideal for Ph.D students to present their work (even early work)

Title: Automating deployment of Vector Packet Process (VPP) software routers in Virtual Private Clouds
    Abstract:
VPP is a high performance, packet-processing stack that provides out-of-the-box production quality switch/router functionality. We deploy it in an Amazon's Virtual Private Cloud, making it the main router of the VPC ( thanks also to the new Segment Routing version 6 technology) and automate its deployment.

Title: Per-Flow Fairness in the Datacenter Network

    Speaker: Jim Roberts

Abstract: Datacenter network (DCN) design has been actively researched for over a decade. Solutions proposed range from end-to-end transport protocol redesign to more intricate, monolithic and cross-layer architectures. Despite this intense activity, to date we remark the absence of DCN proposals based on simple fair scheduling strategies. In this paper, we evaluate the effectiveness of FQ-CoDel in the DCN environment. Our results show, (i) that average throughput is greater than that attained with DCN tailored protocols like DCTCP, and (ii) the completion time of short flows is close to that of state-of-art DCN proposals like pFabric. Good enough performance and striking simplicity make FQ-CoDel a serious contender in the DCN arena.
